Tim Bosma's Murder Exposes Spoiled Rich Kid's Crimes Part 3

 

We left off with Dellen Millard and Mark Smich being found guilty of the first degree murder of Tim Bosma, a man who was kind hearted; a complete stranger caught up in their twisted game of "cheap thrills". I am now going to dig into the case of the murder of Laura Babcock, Dellen Millard's girlfriend.

Laura Babcock was still a "baby" in most people's eyes. She was a 23 year old student at the University of Toronto (U of T). She was working on her dreams of one day being an actress; known as a very bubbly, free spirited, fun soul.

Laura Babcock met Dellen MIllard at the end of 2008, they did date for a while but ultimately they became friends. In 2010, she met Shawn Lerner whom she dates for about a year and a half. (Remember his name as he will be a key, intricate part of her murder trial).

Between 2011 and 2012, Laura would seek help, admitting she was severely depressed and had bad anxiety with this intense fear of death... something she struggled with for months at a time. She did become suicidal and spent at least 12 different visits to the hospital, due to her mental health.

Things seemed to escalate when Dellen Millard began dating a woman named Christina Noudga. Christina was excessively jealous of his friendship with Laura and made no qualms about that being public knowledge. Noudga was very petty, even messaging Laura on her birthday saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY. A YEAR AGO TODAY WAS THE FIRST TIME I SLEPT WITH DELLEN." It seems Laura still had her backbone because she came back with her very own barb, stating, "THAT'S FINE, I SLEPT WITH HIM A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO!!!"

Obviously this exchange pissed Dellen Millard off, and sent Laura a message, saying she was harmful to his life and for her not to contact him again until she has spent some time in self discovery; wishing her good luck. Long story, short, Dellen claimed that Christina knew he was sleeping with other women as they had an open relationship; something Laura venemously denied...

This crossed the line with Dellen who on April 17, 2012 messaged his girlfriend, Christina Noudga that he was going to deal with Laura. His messages said, "FIRST, I'M GOING TO HURT HER. THEN I'LL MAKE HER LEAVE. I WILL REMOVE HER FROM OUR LIVES!!!"

2012 was not a kind year to Laura. She had fallen on hard times, was homeless and began working for an escort service (Last Minute Escorts). Her ex, Shawn Lerner learned of her situation and paid for her to stay in a motel for a while, giving her an iPad to look for places to live. 

She was very upfront with her job, but explained that there was no sex involved; it was just men requiring arm candy for some event or another. Unfortunately, Laura has also became addicted to cocaine at this time. 

Sadly, she had no idea how much time she had left on this earth...

In July 2012, Laura and Dellen exchange over one hundred times within days. She agreed to meet Dellen Millard, taking the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) subway out to see him. July 3, 2012 is the last time Laura is seen anywhere; and within an hour of her last sighting, her phone stopped any and all activity.

Dellen Millard, did a stupid move here, although for Laura's case, it was a key moment. Millard messaged Mark Smich, saying he was on "a mission and would be back in 1 hour". They seem to make another mistake when the very next day, they change the name of the iPad Laura had; now calling it "Mark's iPad", which alerted Shawn Lerner. 

Dellen Millard takes a picture of something wrapped in a blue tarp that was clearly at his farm in Waterloo; Shawn is able to see this through the connected iPad. Millard orders a new bed mattress on rush order and had ordered a farm animal incinerator, which arrived on July 5th. Him and Mark move it to the farm in Waterloo.

It isn't until July 14, 2012 that Laura's family AND Shawn Lerner file a missing person's report on Laura; which the police didn't seem to take seriously because she had some mental health issues and worked in the sex industry.

It felt like Dellen Millard loved to taunt people and he was extremely cocky, feeling like he was untouchable (Just remember, this all happened before the Tim Bosma case).

On July 23rd, Dellen messages his best friend, Mark saying, "BBQ HAS RUN ITS WARM UP, IT'S READY FOR MEAT". He does this right before he does a search on his computer on what should be the temperature to cremate a body. He continues to take pictures, even of the human bones inside the incinerator, but also a photo that included Mark standing beside it.

On the 27th, Millard continued with his over confident ass, telling Shawn Lerner that he should not expect to find Laura. It was also about this time, Laura's family receives her phone bill and her parents begin contacting those people she had spoke to that month, including Shawn.

Shawn notifies Millard, saying they are not looking nor pointing a finger at him, but everyone is anxious and worried for Laura and it appears that Millard was the last person she was in contact with. Shawn met with Millard on the 27th where he tells Lerner that Laura was a cokehead and she was despereately trying to reach him for drugs, which he claimed to deny her every time; and that he should give up on the search because he should have no reasonable expectation to find her.

Thankfully, and definitely sadly, Mark Smich was not as smart as his "idol", Dellen Millard. In August, Mark created a rap song that he sang while him and friends were sitting around smoking weed. The problem here was he had written the lyrics on the iPad that originally belonged to Laura. The people he was getting high with, would later say that Mark confessed to killing a girl, burning her body and disposing of her body in a lake.

THIS IS WHERE THE CASES TIE IN...

The police services did NOT start to investigate Laura Babcock's disappearance until AFTER Dellen Millard and Mark Smich were convicted of Tim Bosma's murder. Suddenly, the two men were now facing two more hideous crimes... Laura's disappearance and Wayne Millard's (Dellen's father) death, which had previously been ruled a suicide.
