NINE Children Die ~ A Case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy ? Or Pure Evil??? ARRESTS, CONVICTIONS & AFTERMATH

Both Marybeth Tinning and her husband, Joseph Tinning were brought down to the police station and interrogated separately. It didn't take long for Marybeth to admit that she murdered Tami Lynne, Timothy and Nathan.

She signed a written confession; but was only arrested and charged in the murder of Tami Lynne, as she now claimed that she was put under too much pressure to confess, and she lied claiming she was denied the right of legal counsel and the police were constantly threatening her.

Dr Michael M. Baden, the lead forensic pathologist for NYPD's Special Forensic Unit, did determine that Tami Lynne was smothered with a soft object, like a pillow... Joseph faced no charges as this all seemed to fall on Marybeth Tinning. The authorities charged Marybeth with Tami Lynne's murder, leaving the other eight deaths as "suspicious". She managed to pay her bail amount of $100,000 and was permitted to continue to be a free woman until trial.

June 22, 1987 the trial of Marybeth's life began; and right from the get go, it didn't look good for her as Tami Lynne's pediatrician revealed that he told Marybeth she should install a device in the nursery that would monitor the baby's heart rate and breathing; especially after they all believed the deaths were gentic... Marybeth refused.

The trial took 6 weeks, with the jury deliberating for only 23 hours, over three days. It was unaminous in finding her guilty of one count of second-degree murder.

The jury had acquitted her of doing it on purpose (deliberately), but she "depraved indifference to human life"...  (This is also known as wanton murder, malice aforethought, different degrees of manslaughter or third degree murder) Meaning, that she may not have specifically intended to kill her baby. In her mind, she would know that mostly likely what she was doing would do irreversible harm or death; but mentally she'd ignore those warnings and continue with the actions anyway. (All this really means is that had the baby survived, she would be charged with "reckless endangerment or culpable negligence.)

While the verdict was read aloud in the courtroom, Marybeth laid her face in her hands and cried very loudly, and her husband, Joseph could be heard saying he still doesn't believe she did this!!! He firmly stood by her side, feeling she is innocent.

(Yes, I am going to put my two cents into this one... There is no way in hell I would have convicted her of second-degree murder. The killing of Tami Lynne Tinning was planned, calculated and executed very precisely.)

She was ultimately sentenced to 20 years in prison, and she was sent to Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women. She tried to appeal her confession but the Supreme Court denied it, as there was no evidence of coercion or any misconduct by police.

She presented to the parole board in March 2007, for the first time; but at the time, she didn't take accountability nor responsibility for Tami Lynne's death; claiming the only thing she knows is that her daughter id dead. PAROLE DENIED!!!

At the end of January 2009, she was given another chance before the board. This time she claimed she was simply going through a bad time when she killed her daughter. Everyone in the room felt this was very superficial. PAROLE DENIED!!!

January 2011, Marybeth Tinning attempted to tell the parole board that she was lost after her other children died and she didn't feel like she was a good parent; feeling that Tami Lynne too would die. This time, Marybeth had people supporting her; but she continued to show no remorse for what she did. PAROLE DENIED!!!

I won't continue with all the dates, but Marybeth Tinning was denied bail SIX times by January 2017. She WAS released on August 21, 2018 by the parole board, after serving 31 years. She returned home to her husband, where she lives under very strict conditions, including having a curfew and she MUST go to domestic violence counseling.

I cannot speak for everybody who is reading this, nor anyone who knows the case personally, but I gotta say... If ever there were a case for the death penalty... this was it!!! She MURDERED NINE CHILDREN!!! She robbed 9 individuals of growing up and having lives that they all deserved to live.

I am not expert, nor do I claim to know everything; but I do know this... I would keep an eye on every child that lives in her neighbourhood, yah, she may  be 81 years old, but she has a twisted mind and no concept of guilt or remorse. I feel she has no concept of the depths of things she has done and would do to innocent little ones.

What are your thoughts on this entire case??? Who really failed these children? Do you feel like the medical staff dealing with these cases should also be held accountable for their lack of action???

A forensic psychologist diagnosed Marybeth Tinning, using hiw own version of a mental health scale. It ranges from 1 to 22; 22 being the most dangerous ranking ever. He ranked Marybeth at a 7, saying she was highly narcissistic and attention seeking.
