"Dear Zachary" Murders ~ The Case of a Flawed System Part 2
I am going to backtrack a bit now. We are at the beginning of March 1996. Shirley Jane Turner begins with her disturbing behaviour already at this point...
Shirley had began a relationship with a gentleman named Miles Doucet. This is the first time she is dating someone significantly younger than her; he was 13 years younger.
Eight months later, Doucet ended the relationship with her and moved to another part of the province. The move didn't stop Shirley from hassling him. She started incessantly calling him. It was overwhelming for him. The following November 1997, Shirley even travelled to where he lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia (NS). She clearly was disturbed and feeling rejected by him and after arguing with him, she smashed him in the face with her stiletto.
This was the last straw for Miles Doucet, who after speaking with his parents, he moved to Westtown Township in Pennsylvannia, US in 1998. Unfortunately for him, this still wasn't far enough for the woman who was literally stalking him at this point. Shirley Turner showed up at his apartment at a whim, she would continue the harassing phonecalls, (most of them threatening).
After consulting with the State Troopers on several occasions, who ordered her to leave; Miles Doucet feared for his life and what she could do next. (He wasn't wrong in his synopsis of Turner)... On April 7, 1999 Miles found Shirley laying at his apartment building, pretty much unconscious. She had attempted an overdose and she lay in a black dress with several red roses and TWO suicide notes; one to Miles and the other to her psychiatrist, claiming that she was not evil, just sick!!!
Shirley was rushed by ambulance to the ER, where they pumped her stomach and gave her charcoal to induce vomiting to remove all the chemicals she had ingested. Miles didn't go to the hospital, but he received a call the following day informing him that "Dr Turner died last night!"
To be continued...
