  I am thinking this will be the final entry on this story. First, I want to list all of Bruce McArthur's victims, before I dive into the trial and sentencing... Abdulbasir "Basir" Faizi, 42, last seen December 28, 2010. In January, 2018 the judge issued a publication ban on the trial, so us, the public, were very limited on what was revealed in the court room.   This section of the case, I am going to explain the case of the missing men and ultimately what it was that made Bruce McArthur the prime suspect... PROJECT HOUSTON "Project Houston" was created by the Toronto Police Services (TPS) in November 2012. The case that started this was the disappearance of Skandaraj Navaratnam aka Skanda . He went missing on September 6, 2010. The reason his case became so interesting is that someone created a cannibal website called "Zambian Meat" in 2012.  The poster claimed that he had killed and eaten a man from Toronto. Initially TPS tried to find a link between this website and Luka Magnotta (I already wrote about him)... ultimately, there wasn't enough evidence to pursue that avenue and they refocused on new suspects.   Bruce McArthur's name was out there and he was becoming well-established as a landscaper; it seemed like life was going to be okay for him. His company was called "Artistic Designs". Boy, were we all mistaken!!! He definitely knew how to put on an act, because not a single person questioned him when he was a mall Santa Claus on the off season. (There is a vital reason I include all of this in explaining about this evil being). A mere few weeks after Bruce's 50th birthday, on Halloween, 2001 he had went home with Mark Henderson, who was both an actor and model. He wanted to show off his Halloween costume to Bruce. We cannot be sure what happened, and how it got so twisted, but Bruce McArthur grabbed an iron pipe and hit Mark Henderson in the back of his head several times.  Bruce didn't kill Mark, but he left him unconscious. Its not only that, but the predator was deemed the most prolific serial killer in Toronto, and the oldest (years-wise) KNOWN serial killer in Canada. It became increasing clear that Nova Scotia did not have the resources to truly find out what was happening behind the doors of this facility; but news of it had travelled and a reporter from the Montreal Standard decided to do his own investigation.  He fittingly titled his article, "Traders in Fear: Baby Farm Rackets Still Lure Girls Who are Afraid of Social Agencies." He (Mavis Gallant) wrote how those on the outside of the home continued to applaud William and Lila Young as honourable citizens for taking in unwed mothers, which was very frowned upon in those days. He also explained how the young, frightened, unwed mothers wouldn't speak out, in fear of reprecussions.   I felt compelled to write about this case, as I had seen a movie depicting this disgusting case when I was much younger, The film was called "Butterbox Babies" and it came out in 1995. If you can stomach the story of the ButterBox Babies, then I would suggest you watch the movie. I am issuing a TRIGGER warning for this one though!!! The place that was created was called "The Ideal Maternity Home" which was open and functional from 1928 to 1947. It was ran by an unordained minister of the Seventh Day Adventist, who was actually a chiropractor named William Peach Young and his wife, Lila Gladys Young, who was a registered mid-wife, but a self-proclaimed obstetrician.   After one of the largest manhunts, Canada has ever endured (at this point), Allan Legere was arrested and returned to prison, to serve out the last time of his previous conviction for rape and murder of the elderly, John and Mary Glendenning. In August 1990, another nine years were put on top of the original sentence for his escape In November of 1990, there was a new indictment and Allan Legere was set to face a new trial, charged with four cases of first degree murder (Annie Flam, Nina Flam, Donna Daughney and Linda Daughney). What makes this case so prominent??? It is the first case in Canadian history to ever convict on DNA profiling (which had previously only been used to exonerate the accused). After less that 3 hours of deliberation, the jury came back with a guilty verdict for all four charges. Allan Legere was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility for parole for 25 years.   Today's entries are about a man named Allan Legere, who is also known as the "Monster of the Miramichi".  Allan Joseph Legere, from all appears was born to a rather poor family on February 13, 1948 in Chatham Head, New Brunswick CANADA. He was already considered a sexual deviant in his younger years, as he shared the bedroom with his sisters, and often would pleasure himself as he watched them undress. He liked to work out a lot and he became obsessed with religion, to the point that he would run shirtless into a church, announcing he was the one true God, and that everyone should follow his lead. (Maybe this is just me, but why am I seeing that mass murderers tend to be super religious and have a "God" complex about them???)  His crime spree lasted from June 1986 to November 1989; although there was a span where there was peace between his crimes...   Both teens are now in custody of the NYPD (New York Police Department). The District Attorney (DA) feels that no jury would sentence two young teenagers on first degree murder charges, so they are both charged with manslaughter. When each of them was questioned, there was no clear story on who did what to Michael McMorrow, it was very confusing. Many witnesses, including character witnesses came forward, revealing they mainly stayed away from Daphne because of her unpredictable behaviour; and most of them were not surprised when they found out she murdered someone... it seems, it was only Christopher's parents that were in the dark and completely oblivious to how sinister and disturbed their son's girlfriend was. Daphne was known for telling plenty of different stories, so no one really knew what to believe when it came to her mouth. Daphne Abdela and her boyfriend, Christopher Vasquez were in the park, rollerblading, as per usual; when Daphne commented to him, and anyone who would listen, that she was going to kill someone that night; even describing herself slitting someone's throat, producing her switchblade to Christopher.  No one believed that she was actually going to do it, as she tended to say idle threats all the time. The irony here is that Christopher had his own blade and only responded with , "I'm in", when she told him. On this ill-fated night, Michael McMorrow was in the park, and it's already been established that the two knew each other through AA. The trio were drinking together.   Today we are going to dive into the case of the "Baby Face Butchers" and their unprovoked attack on someone they knew. Two teens, still babies at barely fifteen years old. As per usual, the case will be split up into different blurbs.I DO feel this is another case of nature vs. nurture. First I want to speak about the victim... Michael McMorrow was born on May 30, 1952 in New York, lived in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, until his teenage years; where the family moved to The Bronx. He had a loving family, both his parents, his brother and two sisters (one of whom has passed away in 2016). His family speaks of him fondly, saying he was kind-hearted and had an addictive personality; everyone liked him. He was given some loving nicknames: Mike, Mikey, and Irish. Michael was very well educated and was doing great for himself, working in the real estate industry; working both in Manhattan and Santa Monica, California. He had many things going for him, but he had one vice he c

  In the conclusion of this case, I am going to talk about the verdict, as there is not too much information about the trial. The case did take a while because it was a full year before there was a verdict. (June 14, 2019).  After a trial by judge and jury, there were a total of five men who were sentenced... Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, Manuel Rivera, Elvin Garcia, Jose Muniz and Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez. I think the jury got this right when they were found guilty of. 1. first degree murder 2. second degree murder 3. gang assault 4. conspiracy The only positive I see in this sentencing, is with the jury agreeing they committed first degree murder; it was fully acknowledged that Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Felix had been tortured by the gang. I know this case didn't really involve too much about Esaid Hoke, but because I did bring up his name; and that these two cases were connected.   We left off at the part where the public were overwhelming the police with all their tips and identifying the suspects, fourteen in total, their ages ranged from 18 to 29. WTF?!!
