"He's Homeless. No One Will Notice!" ~ The Disturbing Case of Brian Cohee Jr. Pt 1.
Good Day everyone. I hope the day finds you well. Today, I will be writing about the bizarre case involving Brian Cohee Jr. I guess to attempt to get into his mind a bit, we will need to dig a little into his younger years and mental health. Bear with me as I gather the proper information so that we may all be on the same page, so to speak...
Brian Cohee Jr, appears to have been raised in a reasonably "normal" household with both his parents. There were never any reports of child abuse nor neglect; so zero involvement with CPS/DCFS. He had his mental disorders to cope with, and was on the autism spectrum, but by all accounts, he was not raised in an abusive environment.
Brian had been on medications for ADHD, anxiety and autism since he was 5 years old, and this would come into play later when he was arrested and in court; but as I always say... "Mental health is not an excuse for bad behaviour; people still need to be held accountable for their actions." (and yes, this is coming from someone who does have some mental health disorders, as well!!!)
This all began with a whim that had initially popped into Brian Cohee's head. He just wanted to feel what it would be like to kill someone...He plotted this event for months; so when it comes time to when we expose how he was caught, just know that in order for him to claim insanity; it has to be CLEARLY established, beyond a reasonable doubt, that when he committed the crimes he was not of sound mind.
At the age of 19 years old, on February 27, 2021, Brian Cohee Jr. walked through downtown in Grand Junction, Colorado, to the outskirts, where he found Warren Barnes, a 69 year old man who had been homeless for quite a while, and had literally become a staple of the town. The citizens affectionately nicknaming him "The Reading Man." Warren Barnes, was usually found sleeping under a bridge.
What happens next completely sent shockwaves through the community, shaking everyone around.
