  I am going to conclude the story on Dr Quincy Fortier, although there are a couple dozen more medical professional names I could add to this story, I wanted to solely discuss this case for now... In the mid -2000's, two of Quincy Fortier's former patients decided to go ahead and charge and sue the doctor for fertility fraud; the court case was settled out of court.  Sounds to me like they were offered hush money,as Dr Quincy Fortier never had to openly admit any of his despicable actions and the families were forbidden from publicly speaking about what had happened to them; unfortunately for him, but fortunately for his victims, there were several more people who had been dealt the same devestating blow from him and were not in on the court case and never consented to remain quiet!!!  (In a sick twist, Quincy Fortier acknowledged the paternity of the four children involved in the court case and put the wording in such a way, to leave it open to the possibility that ther...

  Things escalated from Wendi Basti's revelation.... The DNA database that Wendi had used revealed that the now deceased doctor, (He died in 2006, at the age of 94 years old), who was once revered for his incredible work in the fertility world was a horrible being who for over the span of forty years, had produced at least 26 children with his completely obliviant patients.  Devastating and possibly fracturing families all over. Could you imagine dicovering after 30+ years, that the father you always knew was not your biological father, and that you were product of essentially what I would call "medical rape"??? It is unfathomable; being an adoptee is hard enough not knowing who you are or where you come from, in the best of circumstances.   Good day Crime buffs. I know it has been a while since I have been able to write about any cases, but unfortunately life sometimes gets in the way, even taking away from the things we absolutely love doing... I am hoping to do some catching up in the next few days; as long as my own health holds up. So let's just jump into this case.  I have to admit, I didn't know too much about this one, although I had heard vaguely about this truly disturbing, twisted story of a man who took advantage of some of the most vulnerable people you could imagine... people desperate to become parents by any means possible... but nothing like this could have even been imagined; other than in the most sick of minds...   We are at the part where Ariel Castro has nowhere to run. In a weird twist to this sadistic act, Castro had left a suicide note at the house that said if anything should happen to him, or if he is caught, all his money and possessions should be given to the kidnapped women; simply calling himself a "sex addict" and "cold-blooded"!!! He knew he would be eventually caught, as he didn't think the plan through nor make an exit plan... Ariel Castro was arrested fairly fast after the women and little girl were saved. On May 8th, he was charged with: 4 counts of kidnapping  3 counts of rape which carry prison sentences of 10 years to life in Ohio. Pedro and Onil Castro were also arrested, but released the following day, as it was proven they had nothing to do with the abductions.   I have introduced the main "players" in this sick, twisted tale of abduction and captivity. Now is the time to reveal what happened in the Cleveland House of Horrors... When Ariel Castro first arrived with Michelle Knight, he brought her to the upper floor of the house and hogtied her; hoisting her on a pulley towards the ceiling; leaving her there for 3 days, without food. There WERE diaries kept by each of the victims throughout there stay at the house of horrors on Seymour Avenue... The teens all describe how Castro forced himself upon them, doing absolutely appalling things to them; when he was done, he would lock them in a dark room, where they would sit or lay in fear, waiting for what would happen next, or a way to escape him.  They went into detail about how Ariel Castro would treat them like animals, locked in separate rooms, fed like cattle, once a day, if they were lucky and maybe a shower twice a week. The first one is particularly "special" and important to me; my heart broke for her, before it happened, while it happened and the aftermath of everything...  You will soon understand. I hope!!! Michelle Knight was born on April 23, 1981 and disappeared on August 23, 2002, after leaving a cousin's house. She was 21 years old at the time; and had already endured a very troubled life, especially when it came to her relationship with her mother. I don't want to say the world, but the books and movies that came from it, sure did!!! I know, I myself, was shook. I am just going to dive into the case beginning with the perpetrator, as it really is all because of his sadistic and sinister ways that caused over a decade long, unfathomable tale to wrap our minds around. His name is Ariel Castro and he was born July 10, 1960 in Duey, Yauco, Puerto Rico. He is the son of Pedro Castro and Lillian Rodriguez. His parents divorced when he was a child, and he moved to Pennsylvannia,USA; with his mother and 3 siblings. It wasn't long before his mother uprooted him and his siblings all moving to Cleveland, Ohio where along with his father, many family members had moved as well. It appeared that Ariel Castro didn't have the peaceful and loving family...

  Diane Downs was exactly what she was labeled as... she truly was a psychopath; never really taking accountability nor responsibility in what she had done to her children. Diane was put in  Oregon Women's Correctional Center in Salem, Oregon immediately from the courthouse. On July 11, 1987, the brazen woman escaped from the prison by scaling an 18 ft razor wire fence. She was on the run for 10 days literally mere miles from the prison she hid out with a man named Wayne Seifer. She showed up at his door, virtual strangers. Wayne Seifer was a heroin addict and he had no problem initially letting her in the house, but he felt the heavy burden of trying to keep her hidden inside the house and from her not harming another person. He did however admit that they had a sexual relationship while she stayed there those 10 days. Fortunately for him, the police found a piece of paper in her empty cell that revealed where she was.   On February 28, 1984, Elizabeth Diane Downs aka "Diane" was arrested and charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder and criminal assault. Unbeknownst to authorities, Steve or Robert; Diane Downs was pregnant with her fifth child at the time of the investigation and arrest. She had been having an affair with yet another man. She would remain pregnant throughout the trial and just before sentencing, she gave birth to her fourth daughter whom she named Amy Elizabeth.  The newborn was obviously taken into State custody and adopted; but we shall reveal more about that in the Aftermath section of this case. Their youngest daughter, Cheryl had asked him something very disturbing... saying she wanted a gun to kill herself because her mother said she was "bad."  ( How could such a young one be suicidal over how her own mother made her feel? Was this a premonition of what was to come??? As a father, should Steve have paid more attention to what his child was really saying???) This may be where the story gets a bit confusing as I will be jumping back and forth between what was believed and what was the truth... The fateful day was May 19, 1983. A distraught mother had driven to McKenzie-Willametter Hospital in Springfield, Oregon with her three children shot and a bullet wound in her arm as well. It quickly became apparent how dire the situation was... Her son, who was only 3 years old at the time, was paralyzed from his waist down. Today, I am going to be diving into the bizarre case of Diane Downs, one of the most famous momsters that ever existed.  The reason I feel so deeply about this case, besides it obviously being a mother who killed children for her own selfishness; but also because her case if the very first book I read written by the late Ann Rule . It was called SMALL SACRIFICES , and Boy! that title is fitting!! Elizabeth Diane Downs (nee Frederickson) was born on August 7, 1955 in Phoenix, Arizona USA. SHe was the daughter of Wesley and Willadene Frederickson. There isn't too much to write about her upbringing, other than her having nothing good to say about her parents, especially her father. She didn't like the way he was controlling of his wife. Diane was also very bitter that he spent so much time away from home.  At one point, Diane would claim that her father sexually abused her. Later, it was revealed that she recanted, as her parents denied it right from the get-go....

  Both Marybeth Tinning and her husband, Joseph Tinning were brought down to the police station and interrogated separately. It didn't take long for Marybeth to admit that she murdered Tami Lynne, Timothy and Nathan.  She signed a written confession; but was only arrested and charged in the murder of Tami Lynne, as she now claimed that she was put under too much pressure to confess, and she lied claiming she was denied the right of legal counsel and the police were constantly threatening her. Dr Michael M. Baden, the lead forensic pathologist for NYPD's Special Forensic Unit, did determine that Tami Lynne was smothered with a soft object, like a pillow... Joseph faced no charges as this all seemed to fall on Marybeth Tinning. The authorities charged Marybeth with Tami Lynne's murder, leaving the other eight deaths as "suspicious".
