Bad Ass Mom ~ The Case of Miriam Elizabeth Rodriguez Martinez Part 1

Hi Everyone. I have a funny feeling most of you crime buffs have at least heard something about this story.

Before I jump into it, I am going to say this... Miriam Elizabeth Rodriguez Martinez is my HERO!!! Here we go...

There really isn't too much to write about Miriam and her life before tragedy hit her life.

Miriam Elizabeth Rodriguez Martinez was born in San Fernando (in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas), on February 5, 1960. All in all, it appeared that she led the average, ordinary life with her son, Luis and daughter, Karen. She had another daughter whose name wasn't publicized; but one day that all changed.

January 23, 2014, Karen Alejandra Salinas Rodriguez who was 20 years old at the time, was driving through San Fernando when two trucks drove up on both sides of her vehicle, they were armed; forced their way into her vehicle and took her...

These men were member of the Los Zetas cartel (an offshoot of the Gulf cartel). The Zetas were infamous for abductions, only to demand ransom money; which was used to fund any of their illicit operations. 

This case was no different, the family was demanded to pay a ransom, so with the help of loved ones, they gathered the money and went to the drop off location; following instructions to a tee, but obviously the cartel had no intentions of keeping their word. 

It was at this point, Miriam did something unheard of... she wanted to meet with one of the members of the cartel; surprisingly they obliged. Miriam met with Sama who claimed he had no idea where Karen was, but if Miriam gave him $2000, he would help find her. She DID pay the money, but that was a complete dead end... or so she thought!!!
